EAST (The European ATM Security Team) to stage its second Financial Crime and Security (FCS) Forum in June

Practical and strategic measures to be discussed to enhance ATM security

LINK, the UK’s ATM network, is pleased to announce its support and participation in the second EAST Financial Crime and Security Forum (FCS), which is taking place on the 11th and 12th June 2015 at the Grand Hotel Amrâth Kurhaus, at Scheveningen in The Hague, Netherlands.

The EAST FCS Forum brings together global stakeholders with the aim of exchanging information about the latest trends and innovations in the field of ATM security. The impact of international financial crime will also be discussed and participants will review practical and strategic measures to respond to these ever-evolving threats. The conference agenda is set by national members and will include contributions from regional and international stakeholders.

EAST’s inaugural Financial Crime and Security Forum took place in 2013. Delegates from all over the world attended and included: law enforcement agencies; fraud prevention vendors; risk managers; independent ATM deployers and bank and financial institution representatives. They received information about all of the issues facing ATM owners, operators, card issuers and the police, as well as seeing recommended guidelines on preventing crime. This year’s event is co-organised with LiquidNexxus Ltd.

In a European ATM crime report covering 2014 (which included data from 29 countries covering 639,379 ATMs), EAST reported a continued increase in the number of physical attacks, malware and cyber-attacks on ATMs across Europe. Sharing best practice is a key weapon in the face of these evolving threats and EAST has made a strategic decision to reach out to additional stakeholders through, amongst other initiatives, the FCS Forum.
