Contact your bank or building society as you are their customer and only they have all the details of your account. They can check your account and if necessary, contact the LINK ATM operator.
You will need to tell them:
In most cases, a LINK ATM will wait a few seconds and then retract the cash and your account will be re-credited. If this hasn’t happened, you should contact your bank or building society. They can check your account and, if necessary, contact the LINK ATM operator.
You will need to tell them:
You should contact your bank or building society as soon as possible to sort out a replacement. For security reasons it isn’t possible to open the LINK ATM to get your card back.
While most LINK cash withdrawals are free, some LINK Members also operate pay-to-use LINK ATMs. LINK requires that any charge must be clearly displayed on the LINK ATM itself and on screen. A customer must also positively accept the charge before proceeding. If you feel this didn't happen, please contact us with the details and LINK will investigate this with the LINK ATM operator.
LINK believes consumers should have a choice over whether to pay for their cash. The Cash Locator and mobile phone app have details of every LINK ATM in the country, whether free or not and if they do charge a fee, how much it is.
In addition, many banks and building societies allow their customers to withdraw cash for free at any Post Office counter. To find out more, click here. Post offices are also shown on the Cash Locator.
This is the right thing to do as you are their customer and only they have all the details of your account. They can contact the LINK ATM operator if that is needed to resolve your query.
If you are unsatisfied with how they have dealt with your query you should raise a complaint with them, and if you are unhappy with how they handle the complaint you can contact the Financial Ombudsman Service which is a free service, and their details can be found here.
If you own a shop or other premises and think it would be a good location for a cash machine, you can contact a LINK Member directly. Click here for details.
You'll find participating shops on our Cash Locator by typing in your town or postcode and looking for the orange or blue symbols.
Some participating stores may charge a fee to withdraw cash at the till. These will be advertised as having a charge and it will also be displayed on the screen giving you an option to cancel the transaction before being charged.
