What should I do if...
  • I want to report a broken ATM

Please contact LINK using the contact us form.

  • I used a LINK ATM and some or all my money was missing

Contact your bank or building society as you are their customer and only they have all the details of your account. They can check your account and if necessary, contact the LINK ATM operator.

You will need to tell them:

    • Where a LINK ATM was.
    • The date & time of the withdrawal.
    • The amount of cash you tried to withdraw.
    • The amount of cash you received (if any).
  • I forgot to take my money from a LINK ATM

In most cases, a LINK ATM will wait a few seconds and then retract the cash and your account will be re-credited. If this hasn’t happened, you should contact your bank or building society. They can check your account and, if necessary, contact the LINK ATM operator.

You will need to tell them:

    • Where a LINK ATM was.
    • The date & time you tried to use a LINK ATM.
    • The amount of cash you tried to withdraw.
  • The LINK ATM swallowed my card

You should contact your bank or building society as soon as possible to sort out a replacement. For security reasons it isn’t possible to open the LINK ATM to get your card back.

  • I don't understand why I was charged

While most LINK cash withdrawals are free, some LINK Members also operate pay-to-use LINK ATMs. LINK requires that any charge must be clearly displayed on the LINK ATM itself and on screen. A customer must also positively accept the charge before proceeding. If you feel this didn't happen, please contact us with the details and LINK will investigate this with the LINK ATM operator.

LINK believes consumers should have a choice over whether to pay for their cash. The Cash Locator and mobile phone app have details of every LINK ATM in the country, whether free or not and if they do charge a fee, how much it is.

In addition, many banks and building societies allow their customers to withdraw cash for free at any Post Office counter. To find out more, click here. Post offices are also shown on the Cash Locator.

  • I have already raised a query about a LINK ATM with my bank/building society

This is the right thing to do as you are their customer and only they have all the details of your account. They can contact the LINK ATM operator if that is needed to resolve your query.

If you are unsatisfied with how they have dealt with your query you should raise a complaint with them, and if you are unhappy with how they handle the complaint you can contact the Financial Ombudsman Service which is a free service, and their details can be found here.

  • I want a LINK ATM in my shop/premises
